A nurse dressed in a white uniform gazes kindly upon me and says, "There was quite a commotion during your surgery—an earthquake rocked the hospital and damaged some of our equipment. You have been in and out of a coma for the past two weeks. Now, however, you are fine. Let me get the surgeon for you."
As she turns to leave, I become aware of my body. It feels stiff and bruised. I am in pain, but mostly I am groggy. Little by little, memories surface and push away the fog. Then fear and excitement bubble up as I remember my mission in life.
The door swings open and in walks the doctor, reading my chart. He peers at me over the top of his glasses, then clears his throat.
"I have some good news for you. When we opened you up, there was no tumor to be found. This sometimes happens, though I cannot explain why. Just feel lucky."
Embracing the love and compassion of all the beings I have left behind, I say, "I do. I feel most blessed. I give thanks for my life."
Taken aback by my words, he wishes me luck and turns to leave. As he opens the door, I see Etienne standing on the other side of it.
A new adventure awaits.
Dear Reader,
While writing this book, I have been a most fortunate recipient of the kindness, wisdom, and love of the spirits guiding me. The technique I used to access them is referred to as shamanic journeying, an ancient visionary method utilized to explore the hidden universe otherwise known primarily through myth and dream. The shamanic journey is used to access spiritual information as well as healing knowledge.
With each push of the pen, I was following my mission to teach through stories based in fiction.
With best wishes,
Sandra Ingerman
